Erect, undershrub, about1 m high, softly grey, tomentose; stem much branched, woody below; leaves alternate, lanceolate or broadly ovate, acute or acuminate, unequal at the base, often cordate, entire or sinuate-dentate, densely tomentose on both surfaces, usually glandular; petioles 5-10 cm long; flowers solitary, axillary, densely pubescent; calyx tubular, pubescent outside, teeth triangular-acute, unequal, persistent, reflexed in fruit; corolla pure white, lobes-10, deltoid, acute; stamens 5, fillamets adanate to the corolla for half of their length, anthers oblong, dehiscing by longitudinal slits; ovary oblique, 2-4 locular, placenta swollen, ovules many, axile placentation; capsule globose, 4-5 cm across, green, covered with sharply pointed, soft appendages, irregularly dehiscing for dispersal; seeds many,compressed, slightly triangular, rugose. |
