Herbs, annual, erect, viscidly hairy; leaves opposite, sessile, elliptic-lanceolate, obtuse at apex, cuneate or decurrent at base, glabrous; flowers axillary, solitary, actinomorphic, long pedicelled; pedicel long, glandular pubescent; calyx campanulate, sepals-5-lobed, lobes oblong, linear or lanceolate, obtuse, glandular pubescent; corolla pink-red or purple, infundibuliformis, shallowly 5 lobed, lobes unequal, rounded, obtuse or acuminate, tube widened upwards; stamens 5; filaments unequal, shorter than corolla, glabrous, inserted below the middle of corolla-tube; anthers longitudinally dehiscent; ovary 2 celled, ovules many in each locule; style filiform, glabrous, stigma bilobed; capsule, depressed-ovoid, 2-valved, dehiscent; seeds small, rounded, warty.
