Plant Description

Annual, erect, herb, 20-30 cm high; stem pubescent often rooting from lower nodes; leaves alternate, ovate, entire or sinuate, acute or acuminate at apex, rounded at base, puberulous or pubescent; petioles long; flowers solitary, axillary or terminal; calyx campanulate, divided half way down, glabrous or pubescent, teeth triangular, acuminate, persistent; corolla yellow or spotted within at base, limbs very short, lobes ovate, acute; stamens 5, inserted near the base of corolla, exserted; anthers yellow, blue or violet, shorter than filaments; ovary 2 locular, ovoid, style linear, glabrous; berries ovoid globose, orange yellow, enveloped in the enlarged calyx, tipped by connivent pubescent calyx teeth; seeds many, compressed, smooth or tuberculate, orange-yellow.
