Plant Description

A leafless, twinning, parasitic herb; stem branched, very long, glabrous, thin, wiry rather stout, fleshy, yellow; flowers small, white, fascicled, sessile or shortly pedicelled in lax racemes; pedicels fleshy; bracts small, fleshy or absent; calyx segments 5, subequal, distinct or shortly connate, ovate, obtuse; corolla white or creamy yellow, lobes 5 or 4, short, ovate, fleshy, spreading or reflexed, shorter than tube, imbricate in bud; stamens 5-4, subsessile, intrastaminal scales incurved with multicellular fimbrae, almost at the base of the corolla tube; ovary 2 locular; ovules 2 in each; styles 2, very short, distinct or rarely united terminal; stigma wide; capsules globose-conical, circumscissils near the base; seeds large, black.
