Plant Description

Erect or procumbent herb; 5-15 cm long; root stock woody; stem and branches ascending, clothed with long, silky, appressed hairs; leaves elliptic-ovate, mucronate at apex, narrowed at base, entire, appressed hairy, nerves not prominent; petioles short; flowers in terminal and leaf opposed, branched, unilateral, dense spikes, about 2-10 cm long; bracts ovate, acute, persistent; calyx 5 partite, appressed hairy on both sides, sepals elliptic, ovate, very unequal, bristle pointed; corolla white, pubescent at mouth on both the sides, tube broad, cylindric, lobes-5, small, ovate, subacute; stamens 5, inserted on the corolla tube, included, filaments very short, anthers broadly ovate, acuminate; ovary more or less perfectly 4-celled, ovules 1 in each cell; style terminal, short or long, with a depressed stigmatic ring below the apex; stigma minutely hairy, peltate or conical; drupes rounded, appressed hairy; nutles 4, equal.
