A small, perennial herb, procumbent or erect, 15-20 cm high, strigose, woody at base; stem covered with appressed white hairs; leaves linear or narrowly oblong-lanceolate, acute at apex, entire, densely appressed, scabrous, hairy; flower in lax, bracteate spikes; lower flowrs often long pedicelled with larger bracts; calyx deeply divided, sepals-5, ovate-lanceolate, acute, enlarging in fruits; corolla white, tubular or inbfundibuliform, strigose outside, lobes spreading in flower, imbricate in bud; stamens-5, included, filaments very short, anthers ovate-lanceolate; ovary 4-celled, 4-ovuled, style short, ending in depressed, conical or flat disc, stigma entire, rarely branched into 2; nutlets-4, more or less united, minute, broad, depressed at the apex, glabrous or slightly hairy. |
