Annual, small herbs, suberect, creeping or prostrate, much branched, glandular punctate; stem rooting at nodes; leaves opposite, decussate, narrowly, ovate to obovate, obtuse, or emarginate, entire or crenulate, fleshy, sessile, lower surface sometimes dotted; flowers solitary, axillary; pedicels about 1 cm long, more elongated in fruits; bracteoles-2, linear, acute, entire; calyx campanulate, divided up to the base, glabrous, imbricate, segments-5, unequal, ovate, acute, longer; corolla pink or purple with darker veins, campanulate, tube narrowing, lobes nearly equal, rounded, glistening with shining dots when fresh; stamens 4, didynamous, included; anther cells 2, distinct; ovary 2 celled, style dilated at the top, stigma entire or 2-lobed; capsules ovoid, acute, glabrous; seeds many, minute.
