Small prostrate herb; stem angular; leaves opposite decussate, sessile or subsessile, elliptic to ovate, serrulate, flowers solitary or 2 together, yellow, pentamerous, bisexual, axillary; calyx campanulate, 5 lobed, sepals free, unequal, foliaceous, slightly winged; corolla 5-lobed, obscurely 2-lipped; stamens 4, didynamous; ovary ovoid; fruit globose-oblong or cylindric, 2-valved; seeds many, truncate, pitted.
