Plant Description

An erect herb, 25-35 cm tall; stem 4 angled, grooved, clothed with spreading, white hairs, sometimes branched; leaves opposite, decussate, ovate-oblong, subelliptic, obtuse, sparsely hairy, base cuneate, margins ciliate, lateral nerves 4-6 pairs; flowers in unilateral, axillary, spreading or recurved racemes as long as the leaves; bracts minute, lanceolate, bracteoles much smaller; calyx segments-5, narrowly linear, acute, ciliate, elongathing in fruit; corolla 2-lipped, densely hairy outside, pink or white, lower lip spotted with purple; stamens 2, much exserted, 2 celled, filaments slightly hairy, anthers white bearded; ovary sparsely hairy; style slender, hairy, stigma shortly bifid; ovules 3-6 in each cell; capsule oblong-linear, hairy, 2-3 times longer than breadth; seeds not compressed, twice as long as broad, rugose, glabrous.
