Plant Description

Herbaceous, perennial weed; erect or straggling, procumbent; branches puberulous or pubescent; leaves opposite, decussate, usualy sub-cordate, base rounded, suddenly narrowed to acute-acuminate apex, margins entire, nerves 5-6 pairs; petiole short; flowers in terminal, about 5-20 cm long, one sided racemes; bracts- bracteoles small at the base of pedicel; flower up to 2.5 cm long, bilipped, bisexual, zygomorphic, pentamerous; calyx with 5, narrowly lanceolate lobes, pubescent at the back; corolla creamy yellow, campanulate, bilipped, lower lip slightly longer, tube long, yellow, lobes slightly pink towards throat; stamens 4, didynamous, filaments with few, small hairs; ovary densely pubescent, 2-celled, 4-ovuled; style long, glabrous except near the base, stigma with 2 short lobes; capsule, 2-3 cm long, club shaped, pubescent, cylindric, solid, base compressed; seeds ovoid, much flattened with crenate margins, grey or brown, wrinkled; seeds attached inside the capsule by hooks.
