Plant Description

Annual diffused herb, rather rigid, viscidly pubescent; stem 4 angled clothed with soft white hairs; leaves petiolate, dimorphic, ovate-oblong, acuminate at apex, cuneate or truncate at base, others, sparsely pubescent on flowering axes, small narrowly ovate; flowers axillary, racemes or lax spikes; bracts ovate or elliptic, scarcely longer than calyx in outermost flower exceeding the calyx; bracteoles absent; calyx linear, acute, whitish pubescent with green tips; corolla narrowly funnel-shaped with nearly straight lobes, blue/violet, tube sometimes pale or yellow, gradually narrowed; stamens-4, didynamous, included or nearly so, antthers 2 celled, narrowly oblong, muticous, filaments longer, densely wooly; ovary 2-locular with 3 to many ovules in each cell, style long, stigma unequally 2 lobed; capsules oblong, usually 6 seeded, brown, minutely pubescent; seeds small, discoid, covered with white hygroscopic hairs.
