A shallow rooted herb, erect or diffused profusely branched, strigose; stem 4-angled, herbaceous, glabrous or minutely pubescent; leaves elliptic-ovate, glabrous or slightly hairy, acuminate at both ends with large raphides sunken on both surfaces; petioles short, pubescent; flowers in axillary or terminal, erect slender, sparsely hairy spikes; bracts linear-lanceolate, ovate shorter than or as long as calyx, acuminate, tips and margins minutely scarious; bracteoles lanceolate, similar to bracts but slightly narrow; calyx 4 partite, divided almost up to base, sepals unequal, lanceolate, acute, scarious on margin; corolla small, 2-lipped, pale purple, slightly hairy outside, upper lip broadly ovate, notched, tube as long as the limbs; stamens 2, scarsely exserted, anthers 2-celled, cells oblong or round, filaments dilated and hairy at the base; ovary glabrous, style hairy below, stigma bifid; capsule glabrous, oblong or ellipsoid, shortly pointed; seeds subconcentrically rugose or obscurely tuberculate. |
