Plant Description

Small herb, prostrate or decumbent, hardly reaching up to 50 cm high; stem much branched, terete, hoary pubescent; leaves linear-lanceolate or ovate-elliptic, acute at apex, suddenly narrowed towards base, entire, pubescent; flowers axillary, usually solitary or 2 together, sessile; bracteoles, elliptic oblong, spathulate, pubescent; calyx with 5 teeth, linear, acute, puberulous; corolla pale pink, violet, or white, caducous, pubescent outside, twice the length of the tube, subequally 5-lobed; stamens-4, didynamous, included, filaments glabrous, anthers 2-celled, subequal, cells oblong, muticous, glabrous; ovary 2-locular, glabrous, ovules 3-10 in each locule; style long, slender, linear; stigma simple; capsule clavate, brown, pubescent; seeds many, orbicular with hygroscopic hairs along margins.
