Annual, procumbent or diffused herb; stem rooting at lower nodes, glabrous or pubescent, 4-angled; leaves subsessile, small, narrowed into short petiole, oblong or lanceolate, acute or acuminate; flowers in terminal, erect, peduncled, 1-3 cm long, one sided spikes; bracts foliaceous, 4-ranked, ovate-orbicular, pubescent, white, scarious margins; bracteoles lanceolate, minutely pubescent; calyx 5-partite nearly up to the base, linear-lanceolate, pubescent; corolla 2-lipped, small, white blue or pink with darker spots, upper lip emarginate, shorter, lower 3-lobed, pubescent outside, stamens 2, anthers 2 celled, cells subequal often superposed, the lower often with a white basal appendage; ovary 2-locular, 4-ovuled, glabrous, style filiform, thinly hairy, stigma minutely bifid; capsule with fine pubescence, obovoid; seeds-4, ovoid, compressed at base, concentrically rugose, suborbicular, brown.
