Tall, much branched shrub, about 1-3 m high; stem erect, glabrous, virgate; leaves subsessile in whorls of 3-4, rarely opposite, narrowly lanceolate, subentire, acute or acuminate at apex, glandular beneath; flowers in axillary or terminal, lax, elongate, 3-7 flowered in axillary, very lax cymes; pedicels 1.5-2 cm long; bracts linear-lanceolate; calyx 5-partite, usually coloured, lobes-5, ovate-deltoid or oblong, cuneately acute; corolla white, glabrous, lobes short, spreading, ovate-oblong, obtuse, tube narrow, very long; stamens-4, didynamous, anthers much exserted; ovary 4-locular, 4-ovuled, style slender, stigma bifid; drupes 4-grooved, globose green, turning to reddish black, fleshy; seeds oblong. |
