Plant Description
A straggling, perennial shrub about 1-2 m tall with foetid smell, when crushed; shoots grey pubescent; leaves opposite rarely ternate, elliptic or obovate, entire or minutely toothed, subobtuse or emarginate at apex, glabrous, young somewhat grey pubescent; petioles up to 1 cm long; peduncles axillary wioth 3-7 flowered cyme, 1-2 cm long; bracts linear; sepals-5, campanulate, minutely toothed, acute, grey puberulous or glabrous, somewhat enlarged in fruit, closely embracing the base of obovoid drupe; corolla white or slightly purple, tube long, slender, lobes subequal, oblong, obtuse; stamens-4, didynamous, anthers much exserted; ovary imperfectly 4-celled, 4-ovuled, style filiform, shortly bifid; drupes globose or obovate, succulent, 4-grooved, green when young, blue or brown on maturity, seperating into 4-pyrenes; seeds oblong. |
