Unarmed, scandent tree; young shoots tomentose; bark greyish-yellow rather corky; leaves large, broadly ovate-cordate, acuminate, entire, glabrous above when mature, stellately fulvous-tomentose beneath; petioles cylindric, puberulous glandular at the tip; flowers orange-yellow, densely hairy outside, in dichotomously branched, velvety tomentose, panicles of 3 flowered cymes; bracts numerous, narrow, linear-lanceolate; calyx 5-toothed, very small or obsolete; corolla tube slender, densely hairy outside, limbs oblique, upper lip shortly bifid, longer than the lower; stamens 4, didynamous, filaments glandular, decurved, anthers oblong; ovary 4-celled; ovule 1 in each locule, style-slender, stigma unequally bifid; drupe ovoid, 2 or 1-seeded, orange yellow or blackish brown. |
