Delicate under shrub; branches long, quadrangular, strigosely hairy, yellowish-brown towards the tips, densely hairy; leaves opposite, ovate or lanceolate, acute, or subobtuse, crenate-serrate, rugose, finely pubescent above, softly white, hairy or subvillous beneath, suddenly narrowed to rounded base; petiole short; flowers sessile in axillary, ovoid spikes, peduncle 2-3 cm long; bracts ovate-lanceolate, softly hairy; calyx truncate, membranous, very hairy; corolla pink or yellow, tube narrow, mouth hairy, lobes 4, dark purple, rounded, spreading; stamens 4, didynamous, included, anthers oblong; ovary 2-celled, 2-ovuled, style short, stigma subcapitate, oblique; drupes of 2-pyrenes, 1-seeded each, globose; seeds without albumen.
