Deciduous tree up to 20 m height, branches many, spreading; sap milky; leaves elliptic, obovate or broadly lanceolate, shortly acuminate at apex, rounded or tapering at base, young leaves densely woolly; petioles long; stipules subulate, densely pubescent, caducous; flower in dense, axillary fascicles at the end of branches; pedicels rusty, slender, drooping, brown pubescent; calyx divided nearly to base, sepals 4 in 2 series, outer valvate, thicker, inner imbricate, thinner; ovate, acute, rusty tomentose; corolla cream coloured, tube short, stout with 8-10 lobes, ovate, lanceolate, acute; stamens many in 2-3 whorls, anthers sparsely hairy, connectives apiculate; staminodes absent; ovary 6 or more, locular, style subulate, persistent, stigma obtuse; berries, fleshy, rusty, tomentose, globose or ovoid; seeds1-5, brownish. |
