Erect, aromatic, densely woolly, hoary shrubs; stem stout, 4-gonous or terete, branches whorled in 3, nodes swollen; leaves opposite, elliptic-lanceolate acuminate or acute at apex, obtuse at base, margins serrate, pubescent beneath; petioles stout, 2-3 cm long; flowers very small, white in dense, long, peduncled, panicled spikes; calyxconnate in a short tube, teeth-5, linear, long, hairy, enlarged in fruit; corolla 4-lobed, petals minute, connate in a small tube, limbs very short; stamens-4, very short, included; ovary 4-celled, 4-ovuled, style subulate, bifid; fruits of 4, obovoid, dry nutlets with hairy tip.
