Climbing shrub; leaves 3-foliolate with terminal leaflet modified into simple tendril, leaflets ovate, elliptic or lanceolate, membranaceous to chartaceous, pubescent with simple hairs; stipules absent or inconspicuous; inflorescence axillary or terminal panicles; flowers fragrant, puple or rose with maroon lines; calyx truncate or shallowly 5-lobed, corolla tubular or campanulate, tube slightly curved, glabrous, limbs spreading; stamens 4, didynamous, included; disk absent; ovary narrowly cylindric, ovules many, free central placentation, stigma usually 2-lobed, style short; capsules flattened, round-tipped; seeds compressed, winged, brown; wings membranous.
