Plant Description

Climbing shrub or lianas; lateral branches terete, glabrous or puberulous; adventitious roots arising from the nodes; leaves opposite, very variable, 2-foliolate, leaflets ovate-lanceolate, cuneate or rounded at base, entire or serrate-dentate, shortly acuminate or mucronate at apex, dark green above, paler beneath, tendrils bearing 3 claw like curved arms, glabrous to puberulous; flowers axillary, solitary; calyx campanulate or cupular, membranaceous, irregularly 5-lobed; corolla bright-yellow with orange lines in throat, tubular or campanulate, bilabiate, puberulous; stamens 4, didynamous, included, diathecous, anthers curved, 2-celled, divergent; disc annular, pulvinate; ovary 2-4 celled, linear-oblong, glabrous, ovules many, 2-4 seriate on axile placenta; capsules narrowly linear, flattened, with leathery valves; seeds with obscure, membranaceous wings.
