Erect, tall, fast growing tree; branches drooping; leaves 2-3-pinnate, leaflets 5-7, ovate-lanceolate, acuminate at apex, cuneate at base, sinuate, crenate or dentate, glabrous, but pubescent when young; flowers white, very fragrant, arranged in large panicles, terminal on the pendent branches; bract inconspicuous; calyx small, truncate, teeth-5, short; corolla white, lobes ovate, unequal, tube cylindric, slender, about 5-7 cm long; stamens 4, shortly exserted, didynamous, glabrous, anthers of one ovate cell, second cell appearing as a small, basal hook; disk small, cushion shaped; ovary 2-celled, ovules many, style long, filiform, stigma 2-lobed; capsule linear, compressed, parallel to the septum, dehiscence septicidally 2-valved; seeds slightly discoid, wing hyline, narrow at the apex. |
