Plant Description

A small, deciduous tree with fissured bark, leaves opposite, digitately 5-7 foliolate, leaflets up to 15 cm long, terminal, longer than laterals, elliptic-oblong, narrowed at both ends; flowers in terminal racemes, in axillary clusters; calyx cupular, shallow lobed; corolla campanulate, limbs obtuse, spreading tube, 6 cm long, bright yellow; stamens 4, shortly exserted, anthers 2-celled; staminodes present; ovary linear-oblong, ovules many, 2-seriate; style long, stigma simple; capsules elongate, smooth or wavy, glabrous, dehiscing at right angle to the septum; seeds numerous, orbicular, compressed, winged.
