Herb diffused, scandent or subscandent, pubescent; rootstock woody; branches 30-100 cm long, cylindric, glabrous or nearly so, long internodes, swollen nodes; leaves in unequal pairs, triangular/deltoid-ovate, 2.5-6 x1-4.5 cm, acute or acuminate at apex, truncate or cordate at base, repand-sinuate, whitish beneath; petiole slender; flowers 3-8, in pedunculate umbels, axillary or at the forks of dichotomy, pedicels slender; bracteoles lanceolate; perianth faint pink, pink or red, funnel shaped, tube 7-10 mm across, 7-12 mm long; lobes notched; stamens 4-5, much exserted, filaments unequal, connate at base, style filiform; stigma peltate; fruits anthocarps clavate, 10 ribbed, glandular on ribs.
