Woody, scandent or straggling shrub, climbing by the help of axillary thorns; branchlets pubescent; leaves ovate-elliptic or oblong acute, subcordate, entire, acuminate, more or less pubescent on both sides; flowers small, yellow, clustered at the ends of branches; bracts 3, large, showy, obtuse, much exceeding the flower; perianth greenish-yellow, tubular, basal part adnate to bract, limbs-5, fibriate, very small; stamens usually 8, included, filaments unequal; ovary 1-celled, stipitate, style lateral, filiform; anthocarps fusiform, 5-10 ribbed, glabrous or pubescent. |
