Perennial, succulent, glabrous herb; roots moniliform, fleshy; stem thickened at nodes; leaves triangular-ovate, cuneate, rounded, slightly oblique at base, margins undulate, acute, puberulous, lateral nerves 5-7 pairs; flowers 3-7 in terminal corymbs, subtended by 5-lobed involucre, crowded at the end of branches, shortly stalked; perianth, petaloid, infunduibuliform or funnel shaped, red, pink, white, yellow or variegated, tube cylindric, long, widened above; stamens 5, filaments slender, exserted; ovary globose, glabrous, ovules 1-more, style 1, stigma capitate, lobed or fimbriate; anthocarps ovoid, 5 ribbed, black, tuberculate.
