Plant Description

Perennial, prostrate, much-branched, mat-forming herb; branches terete, striate, villows with long white hairs when young; leaves broadly rhomboid ovate to obovate, rounded at apex mucronate, narrowed at base; heads 1-3 in leaf axil; bracts lanceolate, spine-tipped, margins of upper half finely denticulate; bracteoles shorter and narrower than bracts, acuminate, not spine tipped; tepals-5, dissimilar with tuft of barbellate, whitish bristles; stamens 5, all fertile, anthers 1-celled, filaments connate below; ovary 1-celled, ovule solitary, pendulous, style slender, stigma capitate; urticles indehiscent with perianth and bracteoles, ovate, truneate or retuse; seeds ovoid, compressed brown.
