Plant Description

A perennial, ascending or prostrate herb, more or less branched; rooting at lower nodes, nodes villous, internodes 5-10 cm long, decreasing upwards; leaves opposite, subsessile, linear- oblong, obtuse or subacute at apex, cuneate to attenuate at base; inflorescence white, globose or oblong heads, sessile, axillary in dense 1-4 axillary spikes; bracts deltoid-ovate, bracteoles, persistent; perianth segments 5, sepaloid, rigid, acute, subequal, glabrous, hyline or white to pinkish, 1-nerved or obscurely 3-nerved at base; stamens 2-3, staminodes 2-3, pseudo-staminodes minute or very obscure, united below into a short tube; utricles much shorter than sepals, comressed, ovoid, orbicular or obcordate, thick or winged margins; seeds discoid, brown, margins after winged.
