Plant Description

Annual, erect herb, much-branched, glabrous, about 10-75 cm high, often tinged with purple; leaves deltoid to ovate, shortly mucronate at apex, cuneate to truncate at base, glabrous; petioles equalling the lamina or shorter; flowers clustered in axillary and terminal, slender spikes, bracts deltoid-ovate, bracteoles shorter than tepals; perianth segments 3, sepaloid, ovate-oblong, acute, membranous with green midrib and white scarious margins; stamens 3, as long as tepals, free; urticle ovoid, shortly beaked, rugose, indehiscent, brown; seed rounded, dark brown to black.
