Annual, erect, much-branched herb, slightly hairy or glabrous; stem white, smooth, usually glabrous; leaves alternate, sessile, very narrow, entire, linear, lanceolate, acute, midrib distinct, short petioled or without distinct petiole and much exceeding the little flower-clusters; flowers minute, polygamous, (bisexual and female), ebracteate in axillary panicles; perianth subglobose, sepaloid, lobes-5, incurved, scarious nerved, entire, shorter than disc; stamens 5, anthers large, exserted; ovary globose or depressed, 1-celled, style slender, stigmas 2-3, ovule solitary; urticles enclosed in enlarged, fleshy calyx; seeds orbicular. |
