Plant Description

A slender, decumbent, glabrous, perennial twining herb; stem weak with striate branches; leaves entire or lobed, usually obtuse, cordate at base, margins flat or waved, glaucous beneath; flowers dark purple, solitary; peduncle short, bracteate; bract orbicular, variable in position; perianth base globose, tube cylindric, erect, slender, lip linear, flattened as long as the tube, purple with revolute edges, villous with purple hairs, stamens-6; ovary 4-6 celled, placentas parietal, free or meeting in centre, style very short, stigma 6-lobed; capsules oblong-ellipsoid, septicidal, 6-valved, 12-ribbed, glabrous; seeds flat, triangular, winged.
