Small, deciduous tree; branchlets rusty, pubescent or fulvous to mentose; leaves alternate, orbicular-obovate or oblong, obtuse or emarginated at apex, tomentose beneath, nerves 5-6 pairs; petiole short; stipules lanceolate, caducous; flowers greenish-yellow, diocious, minute in sessile, slender axillary or terminal panicled spikes; bract minute, male flowers minute, spicate or racemose; calyx 5-7 partite; disk entire or 5-lobed, densely fulvous hairy; stamens 4-7, anthers lunate or crescent, inserted around the disk, connective thickened, pubescent, pistillode minute, clavate, globose or absent; in female flowers; calyx as in the male; disk annular; ovary 1-2 celled, densely hairy; ovules-2, pendulous, stigmas 2-4, terminal, minute, recurved; drupe ovoid, small, rugose, usually compressed, reddish-purple, when ripe.
