Plant Description

Annual, erect or diffused, much branched herb, 30-90 cm. high; stem clothed with multi-armed trichomes; leaves alternate, simple, croweded towards the tip of branches, ovate lanceolate, serrate, 2-glands present at the base; flowers fascicled or in spikes monoecious, in the axil of minute bracts; male flowers pale white, outer tepals obovate, minute, inner tepals linear-oblong; stamens indefinite, inserted on a hairy receptacle, filaments free; pistallode absent; disk glands as many as sepals; female flowers with 2 extra-floral glands at the base of pedicels, tepals lanceolate; ovary densely stellate-hairy, ovule one in each, styles long, slender, stigma 2 fid; capsule 3 angled, rounded, stellate hairs; seeds oblong, 4 mm long, shining, spongy with a white cap ( caruncle) oblong.
