Erect, dichotomously, much branched, annual herb; stem terete, pale green, glabrous; leaves opposite, rarely alternate at base, sessile; linear-lanceolate, acute apex, subacute base; cyathia solitary, subsessile, terminal; involucres broadly campanulate, lobes 5, ovate-oblong or subquadrate, pubescent or ciliate within, glabrous outside, glands-4 semilunar, 2 horned; bracts minute; stamens included, filaments pubescent; ovary much exserted, 3-lobed, glabrous; styles distinct, bifid at apex; capsules exserted, 3, 2-valved cocci, separating elastically from the columella; seeds ellipsoid, grooved on one side, arillate.
