Small or large shrubs, erect or ascending, sparsely pubescent; leaves opposite, oblong, obtuse or rounded at apex, entire or minutely serrulate, glabrous above, puberulent beneath; cymes many flowered with many subulate bracts often subtended by 2-floral leaves, axillary or terminal, minute, pedunculate; involucres cupular, puberulent; lobes deltoid, subulate, ciliate; glands white, orbicular, rounded at apex; stamens exserted; ovary exserted, 3-lobed, glabrous; style short, deeply bifid; capsules subglobose, pubescent; cocci hardly keeled, glabrous or hispid; seeds ellipsoid, 4-angled, with transverse pits.
