Aromatic herb or undershrub, erect, much branched; stem more or less pubescent densely hairy at nodes, leaves ovate-lanceolate, entire or crenate, sparsely pubescent on both surfaces, acuminate; flowers in lax verticillasters of 6 flowered whorls; bracts petiolate; calyx ovoid or campanulate, lateral teeth smaller than 2 lower, ovate, awn, longer than upper; corolla very small, tube short, upper lip 4-fid, lower declinate, entire; stamens-4, dydinamous, exserted, filaments free or connate below, anther cells confluent; disc prominant; ovary 4-celled, 4-ovuled, one in each, style inserted in lobes, subulate or flattened; nutlets smooth or subrugose. |
