Annual, prostrate or erect, sparsely pubescent herb; branches purple, glabrous or sparsely hairy; leaves opposite, coriaceous, broadly or obliquely obovate or linear-spathulate, rounded at apex, oblique at base, margins minutely crenulate, glabrous above, puberculent beneath, lower distant, upper more crowded, often sub squarrose; stipules minute, setaceous lacerate or absent; involucre in terminal or axillary, minute, pedunculate, many flowered cymes with many subulate bracts, often subtended by 2-floral leaves, limbs of these larger than gland; male flower as a pedicelled, stamen without envelope of floral leaves, anther cells-2, globoswe; female flower solitary long pedicelled, exserted from the cyathia without floral envelope; ovary 3-celled, 3-ovuled, styles very stout, short, deeply bifid; capsules pubescent, subglobose of 3, 2-valved, cocci, hardly keeled, minutely rough; seeds slightly, transversely rugose, ellipsoid, 4- angled.
