Plant Description

Large shrub; bark peeling off in white flakes, branches rusty, tomentose; leaves palmately lobed or subcordate, lobes obovate, obtuse, acute, entire, glandular hairy on margins; stipules ciliate, glandular; petioles as long as the blade; flowers yellowish green, in terminal, corymbose cymes, peduncle stout; bracts entire, disk entire or of 5-glands; in male flowers: perianth campanulate, sepaloid, lobes-5, equal, ovate-obovate, tube villous within; stamens 8-10, 2-seriate, anthers erect, filaments of all connate; in female flowers ovary 2-4 lobed, ovule 1 in each, styles glabrous below, united in a slender column, stigma sagitate, 2-lobed; capsule globose, rugose when dry; seeds 3, ellipsoid, carunculate, black.
