Shrub, much branched; branchlets glandular, hairy; stem grey-white to ash coloured with lenticels throughout; leaves palmately 3-5 lobed, subcordate; lobes obovate, acute at apex, glandular hairy, serrulate on margin; stipules ciliate, glandular with stalked glands on the upper surface; petioles with branched, glandular hairs; flowers small, red in glandular, corymbose cymes; bracts and tepals ovate, entire, glandular ciliate, obtuse; petals purple or red; stamens 10-12, monadelphous, filaments basally connate, inner 3 longer; capsules 3-lobed; seeds trigonous, glabrous, carunculate, brown.
