Annual, erect herb, decumbent below, often woody at base; stem erect, slender, branches spreading, glabrous; leaves subsessile, scattered, broadly or narrowly obovate, entire, glaucous beneath, nerves few; petioles minute; stipules peltate, membranous; flowers minute, numerous males with 1-female fascicled in leaf axils; males subsessile, female larger, shortly pedicelled; perianth segments 6, broad, rounded or obcuneate, green with white margins; disk-glands 6, very thin, smooth, flat; stamens 3, anthers almost sessile on short, erect, apiculate column; ovary 3 or more celled, ovules 2 in each cell, styles free, minute, bifid at apex; capsules 3-valved, dry, globose; seeds triquetrous, muricate, convex at back, marked with 9-10 striated with fine lines of dots on back, brown. |
