An erect or diffuse herb or under shrub with woody root stock and long flattened branches; leaves up 1.8 x 0.6 cm, sub sessile, closely placed and often overlapping, linear-oblong, obtuse or acute at apex, stipules peltate, sagittate, male flowers few, minute, sub sessile; female on filiform pedicels; calyx lobes 6, oblong; stamens 3, nearly free; style 3, few 2 fid; capsules globose, 3 angled; seeds trigonous.
