Medium sized, evergreen tree; branches drooping, pubescent; leaves alternate, obliquely ovate or lanceolate, obtuse, acute or acceminate at apex, rounded at base, margins serrulate, shining above; flowers yellow, axillary, pedicelled, mono- or dioecious, apetalous; males in dense, axillary clusters, shortly pedicellate; perianth unequally 3-5 lobed, oblong, obtuse, imbricate, ciliate; disk absent; stamens 2-4, filaments more or less free or subconnate at base; female flowers solitary or paired, axillary, greenish yellow; tepals 5-6, oblong; ovary ovoid, 3-locular, finely silky tomentose, ovules 2 in each locule, style short, spreading, dilated into broad, fleshy arms, stigmas-3, cuneately semi-lunar, recurved; drupes globose to ellipsoid, white, tomentose, stone hard rugose; seeds ovoid, wrinkled.
