Annual, erect, dioecious, aromatic herb; branched 1-1.5 m high; stem and branches angular; leaves alternate, sometimes opposite, digitate, leaflets in the upper leaves 1-3, in the lower leaves 5-11, linear-lanceolate, serrate, glandular pubescent, petiole up to 8 cm long, stipules filiform; male flowers in short cymes combined into terminal panicles; sepals-5, imbricate, crowded under the leafy bracts; stamens-5, erect in bud; female flowers solitary, axillary, forming leafy spikes; leafy bracts, glandular pubescent; perianth hyline, embracing the sessile ovary, style central, arms filiform, caducous, ovule pendulous; achenes greyish-brown compressed, crustaceous; seeds flattened, albumen fleshy.
