Large, spreading, deciduous tree; branchlets terete, pubescent, lenticellate; leaves alternate, distichous, coriaceous, elliptic or obovate-oblong, acuminate, glabrous or pubescent beneath, base unequally rounded or subcordate; nerves 5-7 pair; flowers in axillary, pubscent cymes, longer than petiole, usually male and bisexual (polygamous), mixed on small branches at the scars of fallen leaves, the male cymes rather more compact than female; perianth lobes-4, sepaloid, ovate, greenish-brown, pubescent; stamens 7-9, exserted, anthers hairy; ovary long-stipitate, ovule pendulous, style short, bifid, branches stigmatose; samara obliquely-elliptic to suborbicular, notched at the apex; wing reticulately veined, membranous; seed flat. |
