Erect shrub about 2 m high with milky juice; stem woody at base, greyish below, green above, fistular, glabrous or minutely puberulent; leaves ovate or lanceolate, acuminate, prominently cordate at base, entire, minutely pubescent on both surfaces; flowers large, funnel shaped in lax, dichotomous, axillary or terminal peduncled cymes; bracts minute, ovate, obtuse, caducous; sepals-5, subequal, suborbicular, often with 5 nectaries in between at base; corolla pink, purple within, rarely white, tube longer than spreading lobes, 5 plaited, twisted; stamens included, filaments hairy at dilated bases; capsules ovoid to subglobose, 1.5 cm long, mucronate, pale brown, 4 valved, seeds 2-4, black or densely villous. |
