Plant Description
Tree, large with spreading crown and aerial prop roots; leaves alternate, coriaceous, base cordate or rarely cuneate, elliptic-or orbicular lateral nerves 3-7 pairs, prominant, margins entire, apex obtuse, glabrescent or minutely pubescent beneath; petiole stout, short; stipules deciduous; receptacles globose, sessile, in axillary pairs, puberulous, bright red when ripe, depressed globose at maturity; male flowers numerous near ostiole or mouth of the receptacle; tepals 4, free, rather broad stamens 1; gall flowers similar to males but with short style, pedicellate; female flowers- perianth shorter than in males, tepals-4, sepaloid; ovary with short style; achenes globose dark brown. |
