Tree, large umbella like, ornamental with crowded drooping branches; leaves alternate or subdistichous, ovate-elliptic, rounded or acute at base, shortly caudate-acuminate margins entire, lateral nerves many, petole short; stipules paired coriaceous, lanceolate; receptacle globose or obovoid, red, becoming bluish-black, axillary, solitary or paired, sessile; male flowers very few, shortly pedicellate; sepals -2, large, flat; stamens 1, enclosed; female flowers sessile; sepals shortly spathulate; style-stigma large; gall flowers usually pedicillate; sepals 3-4, long spathulate; ovary ovoid, smooth; fruits yellowish, achenes ovoid-reniform, smooth, longer than style.
