Small deciduous tree, much branched, soft wooded; branchlets slightly hispid or pubescent; bark smooth, grey or dull white; leaves alternate, thick, deltoid, 3-5 lobed, as long as broad, cordate at base, serrate or dentate, coriaceous, scabrid, tomentose beneath; stipules small, caducous, leaving a scar on falling; receptacles pedicelled, pyriform, axillary, solitary or paired, globose, yellowish-purple when ripe; male receptacles apple shaped or spheroidal on longer peduncles; female receptacles pyriform on short peduncles; bracts -3, in a whorl; male with perianth 2-6 partite; stamens 1 or 2; female perianth usually of 4, biseriate, style filiform; fruit syconus, greenish purple |
