Plant Description
Tree without aerial roots; bark brownish grey; leaves alternate to subopposite, membranous, 4-6 pair, elliptic, oblong, tapering to a blunt point, base cuneate to subrounded, nerves glabrous or softly pubescent; stipules ovate-lanceolate, pubescent; receptacles shortly peduncled on short leafless scaly branches, figs all bearing male, female and gall flowers, smooth, pyriform or subglobose, orange-red when ripe; bracts-3, ovate-triangular; male flowers sessile, tepal-3-4, membranous, inflated, enclosing the stamens near the mouth; gall flowers pedicelled; female and gall flowers intermixed, subsessile, tepals 3-4, lanceolate, toothed, style short, lateral, stigma clavate, much more numerous than the female, many without perianth; gall oavry ovoid, rough; achenes glanulate. |
